The PEVC Institute is the result of a pilot project that began in 2019 thanks to funding from Women and Gender Equality Canada, as part of the program to combat gender-based violence. The objective of this project was to renew intervention practices in the context of domestic violence, particularly within youth protection services. Subsequently, the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale and the CIUSSS Estrie-CHUS joined the project and participated in the pilot implementation phase and the evaluation of the model.
Given the success of the pilot implementation, the PEVC Institute was founded so that the PEVC model could continue to be implemented in regions that wish to do so.
To mark the end of the pilot project that led to the creation, implementation and evaluation of the PEVC model in its pilot phase, the PEVC Institute organized a symposium for the protection of children in the context of domestic violence on April 26, 2024, the main objective of which was to share knowledge, innovative research and promising practices to strengthen the support and protection of children living in the context of domestic violence. This event was also an opportunity to disseminate the objectives of the PEVC model and the results of its evaluation. The event brought together nearly 200 people from various backgrounds: experts, youth protection directors, social workers, academics, key actors involved in the protection of children exposed to domestic violence, etc.
